A Quick Guide to Windows 10 Editions

Microsoft has a tradition of offering different Windows editions to cater for various devices and user needs. With Windows 10 out on 29th July across the globe, let’s find out about the different Editions of Windows 10.

Windows 10 Home

Home edition will target personal PC users. Windows 10 Home with Cortana -- the personal digital assistant; which is built in feature of Microsoft’s latest web browser – Edge. Windows 10 Home will also include, Continuum tablet mode for touch-capable devices; along with improved existing Windows applications like Photos, Maps, Mail, Calendar, People, Music and many more.

Windows 10 will come integrated with Xbox live, which will allow gamers to glance through their game library or recently played Xbox games on their Xbox and Windows 10 PCs.

Windows 10 Pro

This edition is built upon features of Windows 10 Home, with extra features to target the needs of small to medium businesses. Advanced security features like BitLocker and Device Encryption will protect business' private information. Windows 10 Pro also comes with features like Remote Desktop, Domain Join and Client Hyper-V to make it more business friendly. Businesses will also have access to security updates offered by Windows 10 Pro's -- Windows Update for Business program. This program will also help businesses reduce device deployment and management cost.

Windows 10 Enterprise

In addition to the Windows 10 Pro's features, the Windows 10 Enterprise has advanced features to target medium and large sized businesses. Under Windows Update for Business program, this edition has far more capabilities to protect devices, applications and sensitive company information. Microsoft will also make this edition available to it's Volume Licensing customers, so they can upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise.

Windows 10 Education

Windows 10 Education includes similar features found in Windows 10 Enterprise edition, but for schools. With this edition Microsoft has aimed at education sector. Schools and students with Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro will also be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Education edition.

Windows 10 Mobile

This edition is built for touch-capable devices like smartphones and small tablets. It will also come integrated with Microsoft’s new web browser Edge; along with improved existing Windows apps like Maps, Mail, Calendar, Office, People and so on.

Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise

For business consumers using smartphones and tablets, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise will be really a good treat. It will have similar advanced features as Windows 10 Enterprise edition. Similarly, it will be available to Microsoft’s Volume Licensing customers.
