Here at Recompute we thoroughly test all our products to make sure everything is perfect for our customers when they receive it. But here and there you might hit some problems which we are happy to help out with. Here below are some steps to get you back up and running back to normal before you give us a chat.
Before contact our support staff please check:
- Make sure all component - monitor, desktop and peripherals - are turned on and receiving power.
- All cables are connected and fully settled in its ports. Any cables which are not please firmly push them into it port. Also, try different cables if available.
- Close all open programs and file and do a reboot of the system. If error continue please do a “cold reboot” by shutting down the system and remove the power cable. Hold the power button to remove any residual power left in the system. Then leave the system for 5 minutes and try again.
- If keyboard and mouse is not working, try using a set of peripherals that working or try different ports on the system.
Common issues Windows 10
Keyboard keys not working or showing different symbols
When selecting keyboard layout during windows setup, selecting different layout may cause certain symbols not to work. If you selected UK or any other language and want to change it to US. Type edit language and keyboard options in the windows bar to change the keyboard layout. To toggle between layouts:
Press and hold the Windows key
Press spacebar
Press and hold the Windows key
Press spacebar
Windows 10 not activated
If you are receiving messages of windows 10 not activating either the system is not picking up the windows key from the computer. Type in Activation in the windows bar to open up the window. Press Troubleshoot for the system to receive the key from the device. If this does not work please look around the device for a Windows 7 or Windows 10 licence key to put into the Change product key. It can be located under the battery for laptops or on the case for desktops.
Wi-Fi not working
Check if Wi-Fi button is switched off on the laptop or if airplane mode is turned on.
Function keys not working
Some laptops that have the Fn key on the bottom require to hold the key for the function keys to work. Try holding Fn + function keys to see if it works. If not try look if the drivers are installed and install the proper driver from the manufacturer website.
Screen looks blurry
Changing the screen resolution and the screen scaling may help if the screen looks blurry or off. Type in Display settings in the window bar to open up the window. If not try look if the drivers are installed and install the proper driver from the manufacturer website.
Trackpad not working
Check if the trackpad button is enabled on the laptop. Enabling the trackpad button will cause the trackpad to be disabled. Check with the manufacturer website to find where it is located. If not try look if the drivers are installed and install the proper driver from the manufacturer website.
