Good Things Come in Small Packages: HP Mini and Lenovo Tiny Review

Posted by Team Recompute on 2nd Jul 2019

Nowadays, many people opt to get laptops instead of desktops due to their convenience. But laptops aren't as reliable as desktops, plus you're stuck with the peripherals they come with.

As a result, desktops are becoming attractive to consumers again. To save on space, many people are looking to mini desktops.

In this article, we'll discuss the specs and advantages of getting the HP EliteDesk Mini and Lenovo M92P Tiny desktops for business use.

HP EliteDesk Mini Review

The HP EliteDesk Mini comes in either 8 or 16 GB for RAM; this is comparable to regular desktops that have 16 GB as well. The processor is an Intel Core i5-6500T, which is highly reliable. Plus, it runs Windows 10.

You can choose to have an internal storage upgrade of 1 TB, which ensures you can store everything you need on it. Plus, you can use a wireless USB adaptor with the HP Elitedesk Mini so you don't have to run an Ethernet cable to your router.

However, its most attractive point is how compact it is. This mini desktop is so small and thin it looks like a router!

But its size doesn't compromise on its features. It has 6 USB 3.0 ports in total, with 2 in the front and 4 in the back. One is even a fast-charging port.

The mini desktop also has a headphone/microphone jack, a VGA port, display port, LAN port, and a USB-C 3.0 port in the front.

Lenovo M92P Tiny Review

Another good choice for a mini desktop is the Lenovo M92P. It's also quite small, which means you have the convenience of bringing it to work and home without much trouble. In fact, Lenovo names it as a "one-liter desktop," which means you'll get great performance and convenience.

The features on this mini desktop aren't quite as impressive as the HP EliteDesk, but are still worth checking out. For instance, it uses an Intel i3 processor and has storage of up to 128 GB.

The ports the Lenovo M92P Tiny has available are 4 USB 3.0 ports (2 in the front, 2 in the back), a microphone/headset port, 1 USB 2.0 port in the back, a VGA port, and a display port.

This mini desktop also comes with advanced thermal design called Intelligent Cooling Engine (ICE) 2. This means that it'll have optimal cooling that'll extend its life. Plus, the sounds won't be too loud or disruptive to your work environment.

The only downside to the Lenovo M92P is it won't run Windows 10. You'll have to run either Windows 8 Pro or Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).

Opt for Mini Desktops for Convenience

As you can see, both the HP EliteDesk Mini and the Lenovo M92P have a lot to offer. They're the perfect mediums between regular desktops and laptops. So if your budget isn't big, but you're looking for a computer that's affordable and doesn't take up much space, consider either one of these mini desktops.
