Upgrading MacBook Air with OS X Snow Leopard to macOS Sierra

MacBook Air Late 2010 with macOS Sierra

MacBook Air Late-2010 supports the latest operating system - macOS Sierra. To upgrade to macOS Sierra, you will need to upgrade to El Capitan first.

To upgrade to El Capitan, from MacOs X Snow Leopard,  follow these steps :

  1. Get El Capitan from App Store
  2. Click the Get button on the El Capitan page. This download will take 2-3 hours depending on the Internet speed.
  3. Once download is complete, Install El Eapitan opens automatically.
  4. Click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. System will reboot when installation is finished.
  6. Follow the on screen instruction to complete the setup.


To upgrade to macos Sierra, from  MacOS El Capitan, follow these steps :

  1. Open the App Store and click on Updates tab.
  2. Click the Download link on the updates tab to download macOS Sierra. This download will take 1-2 hours depending on the Internet speed.
  3. Once download is complete, installation for macOS Sierra begins automatically.
  4. Click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. System will reboot when installation is finished.
  6. Follow the on screen instruction to complete the setup.
